Installed new in the Bible Christian Church (as it then was) in Brougham Road, Southsea, the organ was dedicated June 13, 1894. The instrument survived war damage to the Jubilee Methodist Church building (as it had then become) in 1941 and was transferred to Purbrook Methodist church in 1949.

Upon installation in Purbrook it was rebuilt by E.W. Backhouse, of Exmouth, Devon to suit the new building and included a new pedal board and blowing equipment. The Eric Fielder Memorial Organ (dedicated to a former organist of Purbrook church) was opened on 4th October 1949. It was rebuilt again by Osmond of Taunton in the 1960’s.

It has been in continuous use until closure of the church in 2008.

The organ is immediately available as contracts are being drawn up for the sale of the building.
